Wilderland has two websites, one always-on, higher resolution website that is heavier to run, and one experimental, situated site, that is solar powered, and in the Nephin Park
The solar site might not always be on or available, it also has other quirks, and will be slower. Adjust your expectactions for this Permacomputing + Small Web alternative.
TIME: 11am - 1pm
LOCATION: Claggan Mountain Coastal Trail
This walk will be lead by Michael Chambers, Head Guide at Wild Nephin National Park, who will introduce us to coastal plants and seaweeds found in this unique habitat where Atlantic blanket bog meets the shore, as well as the biodiversity, ecology and folklore of the region.
We will also be gathering plants for artist Clare Breen and Kasia Kaminska's year-long collaborative plant collection project Flower Féilire, to produce a large-scale cyanotype artwork of Mayo's indigenous plant life.
Everyone welcome.
This walk is the first in a series of plant walks that will take place over the next year as part of the Flower Féilire project. The walks will follow the The Celtic Calendar and will coincide with the four cross quarter fire festivals - Imbolc, Bealtaine, Lughnasa and Samhain - the Spring and Autumn Equinoxes and the Winter and Summer Solstices. Each walk will focus on the different native plant life and habitats found in Wild Nephin National Park and surrounding areas.
